Where Bonaire is
Bonaire lies in the southern Caribbean next to Curaçao, off the coast of Venezuela and outside the hurricane belt. It is a small island, roughly 39 kilometres long.
Getting there
Direct flights arrive from the Netherlands and North America, with connections through Curaçao and Aruba. Cruise ships dock at Kralendijk, in the middle of town.
Good to know
A special municipality of the Netherlands, known above all for its diving, its flamingos and a coastline you reach by road rather than by boat.
Island guides
Nearly all of it needs a car
The beaches, the restaurants and the viewpoints on this page are spread across the island, and public transport does not reach most of them. Renting locally is also cheaper than the names you know from the airport.
